Please see the last circular from our lower southern Regional PACE group reference the QCF and implications (below). Please click here to view a short narrated animation produced by the Qualifications and Curriculum Development Agency, which provides an introduction to the Qualifications and Credit Framework.
We are all fast becoming aware of the implications regarding the QCF for courses and resources NEXT SEPTEMBER. News is coming in daily regarding the course schedule on QCF and the implications associated with learning hours (mostly means reduction in hours!).
Really important to keep abreast of what's on the table and funding for next year see links to key awarding bodies. Hopefully PACE will be able to lobby the Sector Skills Council regarding areas which concern us all, e.g. potential loss of cookery/ food service funding of taught hours, reduction of hours at level 3 Supervision etc.
We will review the latest news at our 22 Jan meeting.

The Future of Hospitality and Catering in FE: Implications of the Qualifications, Inspection and Funding Reforms - Thursday 26 November 2009 - London
See article in this month’s Restaurant magazine acknowledging the threat to ‘taught’ hours. The key factor to watch IN ALL QUALS on QCF is that Where QCF talks about learner hours, LSC partially funds dependent on recommendation from people first ref self-directed learning hours!
Our growing regional group will have a real chance of keeping PACE and providing a voice in terms of the Sector Skills Council management and LSC funding of the new qualifications which are due to replace all in September 2010. Our next meeting is due to take place at the RLC Food Services School, Worthy Down on Jan 22 and we would welcome interest from Colleges in our area. Kind regards
Gerry Shurman
